How to participate in America Amplified’s national listening sessions
As part of the “America Amplified: Election 2020” national talk show, we are hosting a virtual listening session on November 10, 2020, to hear how people are feeling after Election Day.
The moderated discussion aims to bring together people from across the country to learn from different perspectives. The 90-minute session starts at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT/4 p.m. PT. Space is limited.
America Amplified is hosting a series of virtual national listening sessions to learn what’s happening in communities across the country ahead of the November election.
The sessions are not debates; they are a place to exchange experiences. Each person should leave the hour feeling like they got to know a stranger — and their country — a little better.
We need your help to make this effort a success.
From Wyoming to Missouri, Pennsylvania to Florida, Massachusetts to Oklahoma, our reporters have heard some common themes rising out of the communities we’ve covered.
We have chosen five to center the listening sessions around (register for any you’re interested and available to attend). Expect each session to last 90 minutes:
- Our money:What are my concerns when it comes to jobs and our financial futures?
- Session 1: Tuesday, August 25
- Session 2: Thursday, September 17 from 8 to 9:30 p.m. EDT.
- Voting: Is it worth it? Do I have access? Do I trust it?
- Session 1: Thursday, August 27
- Session 2: Monday, September 21 from 8 to 9:30 p.m. EDT
- The American Dream: What does it mean to me? Does it apply to everyone?
- Session 1: Monday, August 31
- Session 2: Wednesday, September 23 from 8 to 9:30 p.m. EDT
- My community’s future: What will it look like in 6 months, in a year? How do we survive?
- Session 1: Wednesday, September 2
- Session 2: Friday, September 25 from 8 to 9:30 p.m. EDT
- Mental well-being: What am I doing for my anxieties, fears, hopes and dreams?
- Session 1: Friday, September 4
- Session 2: Tuesday, September 29 from 8 to 9:30 p.m. EDT
The sessions will be held in small groups of 3-10 people, facilitated by at least one member of our team. What we learn from these sessions will help inform a limited-run national talk show this fall and participants may be invited to be part of a show.
Not all who register may be selected to participate as space is limited.
